Her family let us know the sad news that Vera Zwerver recently passed away.
Vera was one of the driving forces as regional coordinator of the successful Eastern Athletics (Little League region East). One of the highlights was the Dutch Championship in 2018 in the LL Intermediate league, followed by second place at an unforgettable European championship in Prague.
Every winter Vera helped organise a winter school with training sessions for motivated youth players from the North and East regions. It was always extremely well run — you could safely leave that to Vera.
Alongside her life as a baseball mom, Vera loved reading books, was a fan of film music and enjoyed walking in nature. We will also remember Vera as someone who persevered; as she said herself during her illness, “giving up is not in my dictionary”, and despite everything she stayed positive and, for a long time, ready for the fight.
Vera was only 60. We wish those close to her strength with this terrible loss.
