We would like to inform you about

Social safety in sports

We stand for a safe and respectful sporting environment where everyone can enjoy playing.

At the Dutch Little League Championship, we believe it is essential that all participants — young and old — can enjoy baseball and softball in a safe and positive environment. We want to ensure that no one experiences inappropriate or transgressive behavior. However, if you are affected by or suspect such behavior, it’s important to take action.

If you see or experience something that doesn’t seem right, or if you have doubts, speak up or report it. Within our sport, there are several ways to seek help or file a report. You can contact the confidential advisor at your own club. In addition, you can reach out to the confidential advisor of Little League Netherlands or to the Centrum Veilige Sport Nederland (Center for Safe Sport Netherlands).

If you’re playing in the Dutch Little League Championship and experience something that doesn’t feel right — or if you’re unsure whether something crosses a line — I want to encourage you to talk about it or report it.

At Little League Netherlands,

Erika Dechamps, de vertrouwenscontactpersoon, is our confidential advisor, and she is there specifically to listen and offer support.

There is also a Confidential Integrity Reporting Center, where you can share any concerns or reports about inappropriate behavior or integrity violations. Together, we work toward a safe and respectful sporting environment so that everyone can continue to enjoy the game.

What is considered inappropriate or transgressive behavior is something you decide — you know when someone crosses a line. This can include bullying, intimidation, discrimination, aggression, violence, or sexual harassment. Issues such as doping, match-fixing, abuse of power, and fraud also count as integrity violations and can be reported to the Integrity Reporting Center.

The Code of Conduct of the Dutch Little League Championship clearly outlines how we expect everyone in our sport to treat one another. Specific behavior guidelines have been established for each group involved. These codes form the foundation of a safe sporting environment. Would you like to know more about them?

Have you experienced inappropriate or transgressive behavior, or noticed it happening to someone else? Don’t keep it to yourself — talk about it! You can always contact the Confidential Contact Person (VCP) at your club. The VCP is the first point of contact for anyone with questions or concerns about inappropriate behavior. You can also talk to a board member of your club.

If that doesn’t help or isn’t an option, you can contact the Confidential Contact Person of the Dutch Little League Championship directly.
