# The code of conduct

What we expect of each other on and around the field. It applies to players, coaches, umpires, volunteers and spectators — all weekend, at every venue.

## Players

- You play to win, but losing is part of it. Congratulate your opponent.
- The umpire's decisions stand. Your coach does the talking, not you.
- You encourage your teammates, also when something goes wrong.
- Jewellery off, helmet on, and you keep to the agreements in the dugout.

## Coaches

- Everyone plays. You share playing time fairly, also in important games.
- You correct your players, never the opponent or the umpire.
- You watch the pitch counts and take a pitcher off the mound in time.
- You hold a valid VOG and have completed the Diamond Leader course.

## Spectators and parents

- Cheer loudly and often — for both teams.
- Coaching is for the coach. From the sideline it sounds different from how you mean it.
- The umpire's decisions stay with the umpire. They are volunteers too.
- For photos in which other children are clearly visible, ask permission before you share anything.

## Umpires and volunteers

- You are recognisable and approachable at your venue.
- You explain a decision when a coach asks, and stay calm when that does not work.
- You step in when behaviour is out of line, and report it to the tournament management.
- You hold a valid VOG.

### When things go wrong

The tournament management can have a word with someone, halt a game or send someone off the grounds. It rarely happens, but it can — and it applies to spectators just as much as to players.

Seen something that is not right? Tell the nearest volunteer or [make a report](https://nklittleleague.nl/en/veilig-sporten/melden). Anonymously is fine too.

### What the code is based on

The code of conduct follows the principles of Little League International and the KNBSB. [The adopted document will be added once the tournament office supplies it.]
