# Dutch Little League Foundation

The foundation behind the championship. It organises the tournament, maintains contact with Little League International and manages the funds.

Worldwide, Little League stands for fun, development and international connection. Through the foundation we bring that spirit to life here too.

The Dutch Little League Foundation was set up to strengthen baseball and softball in the Netherlands and to introduce more children to [these great sports](https://nklittleleague.nl/en/meedoen/leagues).

Our goal is simple: make Little League better known in the Netherlands and so contribute to the growth of baseball and softball for the next generations.

## What the foundation does

The foundation is the Dutch branch of Little League. It ensures play follows the international rulebook, sets the [regional structure](https://nklittleleague.nl/en/meedoen/regios) and the [age limits](https://nklittleleague.nl/en/meedoen/leagues) per season, and organises the [tournament weekend](https://nklittleleague.nl/en/toernooi) together with the host clubs.

It also maintains contact with [Little League Europe and the organisation in the United States](https://nklittleleague.nl/en/over/internationaal), and with the [KNBSB](https://www.knbsb.nl) as the national federation.

### How it is funded

The tournament runs on [registration fees](https://nklittleleague.nl/en/meedoen/kosten), contributions from [partners](https://nklittleleague.nl/en/over/partners) and a great deal of [volunteer work](https://nklittleleague.nl/en/vrijwilligers). Nothing is paid out: what comes in goes to fields, umpires, equipment and the participation fund for families who cannot bear the costs.
