# Team clothing at the championship

Every year the same questions: which number, may the sponsor go on, which colours are allowed. Here is what the Little League rules require and what the team chooses itself. Where opinions differ, the rules win.

The rules

## What is required of every shirt and every player

- **Numbered and identical.** All players on a team wear a numbered shirt, identical in colour, trim and style (Rule 1.11a).
- **The Little League patch: only at the European tournament.** At the championship the official shoulder patch is not required. If your team goes on to the Europe-Africa tournament, it is mandatory there: a real patch, centred on the left sleeve, on a sleeveless shirt on the left chest; printed or sublimated does not count. You buy it on site for a small fee per patch and iron it on. So do not spend effort or money on it now.
- **Sleeves.** Length may differ per player, but one player's sleeves are the same length. No ragged, frayed or slit sleeves.
- **No tape or fabric in another colour** on the shirt, no pattern that looks like a ball, no glass buttons or polished metal.
- **Softball.** A cap or visor is optional in the field. Shorts are allowed, but then for the whole team.
- **No jewellery, baseball and softball alike.** Necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings and watches come off before you take the field, for your own safety and your opponent's. Little League dropped this rule in 2025; at the championship we keep it. Only a medical alert band is allowed, taped over.

The three questions of every year

## Numbers, sponsors and colours

### Numbers

The rules only require every shirt to carry a number. The rest is agreement, and we make it explicit here.

- Every player their own number; no two the same in one team.
- Large and clearly legible on the back. A number on the chest may be added, but is not required.
- The number on the shirt is the number on the line-up card. Keep the same number all weekend.
- The rules name no size or typeface.

### Sponsors on the shirt

A sponsor's name on the shirt is allowed, also on a championship team. Little League does set limits (Regulation XIII).

- Not allowed: alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes and vaping, drugs, firearms, gambling and adult content.
- The sponsor may not use the Little League name, logo or patch.
- The sponsor has no say over the team, the selection or the coaches.
- Arrange it before the championship and do not change the shirt afterwards. If your team goes on to the European tournament, nothing commercial may be added from the first game there, not on a bag or cap either.

### Colours

The shirt colour is fixed per region; within the team everything is identical.

- Your region sets the main colour, see the table below. Trim and style are the team's choice.
- Everyone in the team the same shirt, the same trim, the same style.
- An undershirt is allowed, in one solid colour. Extra rules apply to the pitcher.
- Softball is about seeing the ball: nothing in the colour of the ball on the pitcher.

Region colours

## Each region its own colour

The colours are set per region and do not change from year to year. Two regions in the same colour on one field is not possible, so do not deviate from this.

Geographic size

The regions are set every year by Little League International; the championship has no say in them. A player belongs to the region of their home address or of their school.

| Region | Team name | Colour |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Amsterdam | Amsterdam / Mokum Tigers | RGB #ffffff CMYK 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 |
| Brabant | Brabant United / Brabant Bandits | RGB #ff7b00 CMYK 0 / 52 / 100 / 0 |
| Den Haag | The Hague Lions | RGB #ffdd00 CMYK 0 / 13 / 100 / 0 |
| Kennemerland | Kennermerland | RGB #3396ff CMYK 80 / 41 / 0 / 0 |
| Midden-NL | Valley Hitters / Vipers | RGB #9800c2 CMYK 22 / 100 / 0 / 24 |
| Noord | Noord | RGB #ff0000 CMYK 0 / 100 / 100 / 0 |
| Noord-Holland | Northern Lights / NightHawks | RGB #000000 CMYK 0 / 0 / 0 / 100 |
| Oost | East Pro's | RGB #03bd00 CMYK 98 / 0 / 100 / 26 |
| Rotterdam | Rotterdam / South West Thunders | RGB #001ae0 CMYK 100 / 88 / 0 / 12 |
| Zuid Nederland | South East Sharks | RGB #8ac6ff CMYK 46 / 22 / 0 / 0 |

RGB is the screen colour. CMYK is converted from it, without a colour profile: a guide value for the printer, not a proof. If your region has a Pantone number or an earlier shirt as reference, that takes precedence.

On the mound

## Extra rules for the pitcher

### Baseball

Any visible part of the undershirt is one solid colour and not white or grey. A neoprene sleeve may be worn without an undershirt over it, if it is solid and not white or grey. The glove is not white or light grey.

### Softball

Any visible part of the undershirt is one solid colour and never the colour of the ball. The same goes for the glove and for anything on the glove hand or arm: no optic yellow.

### Both sports

Nothing on hands, wrists or arms that could distract the batter. No sweatbands. The umpire decides and may have an item removed.

In the dugout

## Clothing for the coaches

Coaches and managers are covered by the rules too (Rule 1.11i), and it differs per league. What applies everywhere: recognisable as your team's staff, and never metal spikes. Printing "COACH" on the back of the shirt is not required; it is allowed if you wish.

### Littles

No complete baseball or softball uniform. A cap, long trousers and a shirt are fine. So a team shirt and cap in your team's colour are allowed; uniform trousers are not.

### Intermediates, Juniors and Seniors

Coaches may wear a complete uniform or a cap, long trousers and a shirt. This applies to baseball and softball.

### For everyone

Never shoes with metal spikes, in any league. A player in the coach's box always wears a helmet; at the championship we ask the same of adult coaches. [Whether coaches may wear shorts is decided by the tournament office per edition.]

### What the team chooses itself

The regional coordinator or the coaches arrange the shirt; the tournament organisation does not supply shirts. Within these requirements the team is free. One team turns up in a t-shirt, another wants hoodies or a complete new uniform. The coaches decide that with the parents, and it explains part of the cost differences between regions. Finding a sponsor for the clothing is allowed; arrange that yourselves.

## Unsure about a design?

Send it to the tournament office beforehand. A shirt rejected on the field costs more than an e-mail.
